Obituary of Clarence William Fulcher
Clearance William Fulcher, 93, of Fieldale, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Stanleytown Rehab Center. He was born in Patrick County on June 30, 1919 to the late Charlie Webster Fulcher and Clara Fain Fulcher. Clarence was 1936 Salutatorian of Stuart High School and attended Central Academy School. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Marksman. He was deployed in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre where he received an Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Bronze Star and Marksman Lapel Button. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills after twenty five years and later retired after twenty five years as a rural route carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Clarence was a member of the Stalneytown United Methodist Church where he served as Treasure and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the local V.F.W. and American Legion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one infant son, Daniel Fulcher, three sisters, Irene Raper, Lorene Bishop and Katherine Haden and two brothers, Curtis and Kyle Fulcher. Surviving are his wife, Ermigene Cannaday Fulcher of the home, one son and Daughter-in-law, Ron Fulcher and wife, Jamie of Gastonia, North Carolina, two sisters, Colene Shough of Patrick Springs and Ethylene Daniels of Danville and two grandchildren, Campbell “Cam” Fulcher and Ellison “Elli” Fulcher. Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Monday, June 24, 2013 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Minister Justin Epstein and Minister Ken Cleveland officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Honor Guard during the service in the Collins Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with Active pallbearers being Jack Haden, David Cannaday, Michael Cannaday, Miles and Brett Houseknecht, honory pallbearers, Bruce Fulcher, Eddie Shough,Dickie Fulcher, Clyde Burcham, and "Rickie" Fulcher.
