John Ketner Perry
June 2, 1917 – January 12, 2017

John Ketner Perry, 99, passed away on January 12, 2017. He was born on June 2, 1917 to the late John Ellis Perry and Beulah Bernice Ketner Perry. He is also predeceased by his wife, Lydia Mae Bryant Perry; sister, “Dot” Perry Powell; brothers, James Ellis Perry, and Oscar Perry; and son- in-law Robert E. Wigington.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Wigington; sisters, Marjorie Perry Clarke of Richmond, VA, and Ann Perry Wilson of Columbia, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Perry was a water purification manager with Fieldcrest Mills. He was a member of Fieldale Baptist Church where he served as a Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Sunday school superintendent and various other church committees. He was a founding member of Fieldale Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed playing golf for 57 years. He also loved to dance. He served in the United States Army 567th Anti- Aircraft Battalion during World War II.
Visitation will be Monday, January 16th from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. at Fieldale Baptist Church with services to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Allen Jackson officiating. He will be escorted by firetruck to Roselawn Burial Park where burial will take place.
