M. Marie McAlexander

Marie McAlexander, 90, of Collinsville, VA, passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 22, 2018 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Charlie W. and Elva Thomas Pendleton of Patrick County, VA. Mrs. McAlexander’s memories will be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones, including her husband of 71 years, Amos E. McAlexander; daughter, Judy M. Curry (James); sons, J. Lane McAlexander and Bobby J. McAlexander (Kim); six grandchildren, David C. Curry, Jessie G. Williams (Jeff), Michael S. Curry, Bobby J. McAlexander II, James Matthew Curry (Michelle) and Summer C.A. Parcell (Jamie); and four great-grandchildren, Charley Williams, Corrynn McAlexander, Simon Curry and Zariah Parcell. A devoted wife and mother, she was loved by all who knew her. She had a sweet countenance, a beautiful smile, and a delightful sense of humor. A member of Collinsville Church of the Brethren since 1968, her love for children and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ led her to be a Vacation Bible School teacher. She enjoyed reading her Bible and praying every day. She also worked at High’s Ice Cream during the 1970’s. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Drive, Bassett, VA, where a funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM with Pastor Roy McVey officiating.
