Betty Louise Shirley

Betty Louise Shirley, age 96, life-long resident of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Betty was born April 27, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Clara (Lobb) Brown and Rhadus Brown. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. "Chuck" Shirley and brother, Marvin Brown. Betty was a life member of Eastern Star and was one of the first female members of Kiwanis, serving as the first female president of Beech Grove Kiwanis. She was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church where she served as choir director. She also served as choir director for the Beech Grove Senior Citizens Center where she was active as a volunteer. She loved bingo, music, and singing and would serve as social coordinator any chance she could with planning parties and holidays for her family, the Senior Center, or the communities she lived in. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and loved them dearly including the grand-dog, Monty. Betty is survived by her daughter, Janet Thyen (Mike) and grandchildren, Alex Thyen (Kenzie), Katie Thyen, and Andrew Thyen. Visitation for Betty will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 12:30 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's memory may be made to St. Paul Hermitage, 501 N 17th Ave, Beech Grove, Indiana.
