Obituary of Emmit "Leon" Chambers
Emmit “Leon” Chambers, 82, of Bloomington and formerly of Solsberry died Sunday, November 22, 2020 in Stonecroft Health Campus. He was born May 1, 1938 in Monroe County to Holland Chambers and Lydia Lucille Hedricks Chambers. He was retired from Bloomington Hospital and had owned and operated Chambers Enterprises. Survivors include his wife, Lyril Nedra Felton Chambers of Bloomington; a daughter, Paula Sue (Mike) Johnson of Martinsville; a brother, Alfred “Earl” (Lois) Chambers of Whitehall; a son in law, Danny Peyton of Dunville, KY; a sister in law, Georgia Chambers; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tina Marie Peyton; and two brothers, Leonard Paul Chambers and Draton “Junior” Butcher. Leon was a member of Free Methodist Church, Bloomington, he was an Army Veteran having served during the Korean War and was a 1956 Graduate of Smithville High School. Due to Covid19, only invited family members will be allowed for services to be held in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel with Pastor Les Rovenstine officiating. There will be a public Celebration of Life at a later date when Covid19 restrictions are lifted. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
