Leona Mae Sheppard

Leona Mae Sheppard, 88, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on February 25, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Clint and Lettie (Tucker) Young, born in Rosford, Ohio on July 6, 1930. Leona worked as a cook for the Monroe County School Corporation from 1967 – 1997. She enjoyed ceramics, cross-word puzzles, cooking and 4-H Club and spending time with her family. She is survived by two sons; Steven Sheppard and Thomas and Latisha Sheppard, her daughter Nancy Reynolds, three sisters; Leva Young, Leila(Bea)Franklin and Lucille McHaley. Leona is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Jessica, John and fiancé Christy, Billy, Amber and Jamal Jackson, Terry, Tony, Jesse, Josh and Amanda Reynolds, Amelia and De’Niro, three great-grandchildren; Bradley, Brandy and Tayla, two great-great grandchildren; Zaylee, Jazzlynn, and her extended family; Alexandria Burton, Icess Nichols and Ross Nichols II, and her former daughter-in-law; Julie Sheppard. Leona was preceded in death by her husband Palmer Sheppard in 2016, her grandchild; Alexis, 3 brothers; Bill, Tom and Ira Young, and her sister; Ada Layman, two daughters-in-law; Janice Sheppard and LaDonna Sheppard. Visitation for Leona will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel, 700 W. Gourley Pike, Bloomington, Indiana 47404. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. also in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
