Ruby Katherine Roberts Mason, 87, of Bedford and formerly of Smithville died Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospital. She was born November 13, 1930 in Bloomington to Noble Roberts and Alice Bowlen Roberts. She was first married to Glen D. Southern and then Freddy Steven Mason and they both preceded her death. She was retired from General Electric.
Survivors include her children; Carolyn Hawkins of Bedford, Connie Baker and her husband Delbert of Bedford, David Southern and his wife Debbie of Heltonville, Leza Ann Corlett and her husband Tod of New Palestine and Greg Mason of Judah, a brother; Ralph Nethery and his wife Barbara of Noblesville, 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; Jim Nethery, Doyle Roberts and Dale Roberts, a son in law; Michael Hawkins, and a great grandson; Jared Michael Hawkins.
Ruby was an outdoors person; she loved gardening, family outings, cook outs and mushroom hunting. She also enjoyed going to and watching the Indy 500, spending time with her children, her grandchildren and her brothers.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM with her grandson, Michael Hawkins officiating. Please join the family for a luncheon immediately following the service. Private Entombment will be held in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
