Obituary of William E. Adams
William E. Adams, age 86, of Bloomington, died Wednesday at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice. Born April 15, 1926 in Carlisle, Indiana, he was the son of William and Phena Adams. He retired from N.S.W.C. Crane in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, stationed in the Phillipines and Japan. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, the St. Charles retirees group, the American Legion and served as an officer in the Knights of Columbus. He was a much loved father and grandfather , very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He spent many years coaching and attending their countless youth sporting events. He was also an avid golfer and basketball fan and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Agatha S. (Schubnell) Hostetler Adams; his children, Fran Hull (Joe), Stan Adams (Cindy), Wanda Lehnhardt, Evelyn Adams, William Adams, Mark Adams (Margaret Mitchell), Michael Hammock (Becky), Stephen Hammock (Irene), Suzanne Young. He is also survived by grandchildren Joe Hull, Bob Lehnhardt, Melissa Lehnhardt, Jennifer Harris, Stacey Adams, Shane Adams, Lori Hammock, Kevin Hammock, Troy Hammock, Tanya Pettay, Jordan Pettay and Drew Adams, Amy Adams O’Leary, Aaron Adams along with their mother, Julie Davis Adams. In addition, he is survived by the children of his wife, Agatha. They are Cindy Brown, Cassandra Bridges (Joe), John Timothy Heagy (Diane), Michael Hostetler (Barbara), Joseph Heagy and Lori Wilkerson (Todd), as well as grandchildren, Nikki Jagow, Nancy Archer, Tonya Shank, Robert Whalen, John Heagy, Kevin Tomlinson and Micah Brown. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and two step-sisters, Shirley Lynch and Marilyn Robinson. . He was preceded in death by his parents, William Adams and Phena Adams Pfoff, his first wife, Katie (maiden name) Nabu, second wife, Charlotte ( maiden name ) Adams, one granddaughter, Amy Richardson and one brother, Kenneth Adams. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Michael Fritsch officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery where the Veterans Honor Guard will perform military graveside rites. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel. The Knights of Columbus will lead a Rosary at 8:00 P.M. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
