Obituary of Rex Meadows
Rex Meadows, 73, of Bloomington, IN passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020. He was born January 29, 1947 in Bloomington, IN the son of the late Cornelius “C.J.” and Wilma Meadows. For many years he bravely battled diabetes and just a few short years ago he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia and progressive supranuclear palsy. Sadly that forced him into assisted living. Even though he fought a hard fight in the end it was just too much. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Rex was the owner of Meadows Auto Sales and Meadows Farms and Stables, Inc. He raised Texas Longhorns, burros and horses. He was a Navy Vietnam Veteran who served on the U.S.S. Topeka and U.S.S. Larson. He enjoyed trail horse riding, any kind of auctions, corvettes, and spending time with his family and friends. Rex is survived by his daughter, Hollie Staggs and her husband Paul; his sister, Rosalee Anderson; a granddaughter, Abbie Catherine Staggs; five nieces and nephews, JD Meadows, Jr., Regina Meadows, Jamie Rose Meadows, Devin Turpin, and Kevin Turpin; and a great niece, Clarice Genevive Jane Ann Meadows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Dee Meadows; brother-in-law, Austin Turpin; brother-in-law, Norman Anderson; and sister-in-law, Genevive "Jenny" Woodward. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Don Ogle. Interment will follow at Little Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
