Bettie Ann Wood Black

Bettie Ann Wood Black, 88, of Charlottesville, died March 8, 2018, at a local hospital.
Born July 15, 1929 in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late Frank L. Wood Sr. and Bertha A. Wood. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Charles E. Black; brothers Frank L. Wood Jr. and Jacob W. Wood; sister Ila W. Werner; and sister-in-law, Dorothy C. Wood.
Bettie and her husband operated Bettie and Charlie's Antiques Shop. She was a life member of University Baptist Church and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Bettie enjoyed watching NASCAR, doing word search books, as well as collecting all things Betty Boop and cook books. Bettie was known for sending birthday and anniversary cards to her family and many, many friends.
Bettie is survived by her niece, Sandra Everton (Lee) of Crozet; nephew Rob Wood (Lori) of White Bear Lake, MN; great-niece, Silvia Wyant-Dowell (Michael); and great-nephews David Wyant Jr. (Renee) and Donald Wyant (Sharon); four great-great-nephews, Alex Dowell, Adam, Pierce, and Ayden Wyant; and pet chickens, Dorothy and Bertha. She is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Lou Eisner Wood of Bossier City, LA.
A graveside service will be conducted 2pm on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Teague Funeral Service.
