Obituary of Louise Grinstead
Louise Candler Grinstead of Charlottesville, returned to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, September 11, 2016. She was born October 10, 1929, in Madison, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Albert Candler and the late Ethel Raines Fincham. Mrs. Grinstead was preceded in death by her sweetheart of 63 years, Herbert Clyde Grinstead, Jr. In addition, she is survived by her son, Donald R. Grinstead and his wife, Kathy, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; and her daughter, Wanda G. Eichner and her husband, Ross, of Staunton, Virginia. Family was of utmost importance to Louise and she leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Katy Grinstead, Vincent Grinstead, Adrienne Eichner, Amy Eichner, Kara Grinstead, and Alexa Eichner. She is also survived by two beloved great grandchildren, Noah Nightengale and Aubrey Grinstead. Mrs. Grinstead’s siblings included Ora M. Smith, Randolph Fincham, Wesley Fincham, Charles Fincham, Elsie Sprouse, and Dolly Poindexter. Mrs. Grinstead was employed with Woolworth Company as a Fountain Manager for 10 years and retired from State Farm Insurance Company after 31 years of service in the Fire division. She was a longtime member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and tirelessly served her Father in Heaven in the Charlottesville First Ward in many ways. Louise was known as the “Queen” of apple dumplings in her ward’s service project for the Church. She loved her flower gardens, bowling and UVA sports. She enjoyed collecting snowmen and bird houses and her family knew “she was born to shop!” A graveside service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016, at Hillsboro Baptist Church Cemetery in Crozet.
