Olivia LaForte King

On October 30, 2022 Olivia LaForte King passed away peacefully in her mother’s arms. She is survived by her mother, Jenna, father, Benjamin, and adoring brother, Luca. Born on July 2, 2022, Olivia was loved deeply every day of her life. Olivia LaForte was named after her grandmother, Jeanne’ LaForte. La Forte translates to “The Strong” in Italian, and Olivia certainly lived up to the name. After multiple health scares several hours following her birth, she was admitted to the NICU where she remained for 14 weeks. At 6 weeks old, Olivia was diagnosed with an extremely rare brain disease. While devastated by the news, Livie’s terminal health condition only intensified her family’s love and support. After being baptized at UVA Children’s Hospital, Olivia’s parents were finally able to take her home on September 14th. In her brief life she felt the sun reflecting off Smith Mountain Lake. She smelled the apples at Carter’s Mountain, and breathed the fall air on neighborhood walks. She enjoyed bath time, skylights, and snuggles from her brother. She knew her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Although her time here was short, she remains a blessing to her family in unimaginable ways. Her impact will continue through Olivia’s Light, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in her memory to serve children and families with rare diseases and severe disabilities.. Livie leaves behind an enormous space, but her family has faith that their precious baby girl is now dancing in the care of her Heavenly Father. Olivia’s funeral will be held at 9AM Saturday November, 5 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to Olivia’s Light.
