Joan Darlene Mabe

Joan D. Mabe, 91, of Columbus, passed away at 5 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Joan was born September 15, 1931 in Columbia City, Indiana. She was the daughter of Donald Ernst and Grace Allena West. She married Garland D. Freck in September of 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1992. She married Meredith Mabe on May 6, 1993 and he preceded her in death in 2002. She was a member of the Garden City Christian Church. Surviving her are sons Donald F. Freck of Plymouth, Indiana, Logan D. Freck of Columbus, Indiana, and Dale A. Freck of Plymouth, Indiana; five grandsons; two granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren. In honor of Joan's wishes, cremation will take place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Plymouth, Indiana where she will be laid to rest. Myers-Reed Chapel and Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home are assisting the Mabe-Freck family with arrangements.
