Always Striving for Perfection
Mr. Ostby was born December 4, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to Mary Maxine Borders Ostby and Clarence P. Ostby.
Bob could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. In 1988, Bob came to Columbus with his wife. Bob married Beth (Reed) of Jasonville, IN on March 1, 1986.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, a son Luke Ostby of Terre Haute, a sister Kathy Lusco of Greenfield, a brother Mark Ostby of Indianapolis and 3 granddaughters Sidney Ostby, Pikesville, Kentucky and Morgan and Pacie Ostby, Terre Haute.
After moving to Columbus, Bob worked at Cummins, Inc. from 1988 until 2006 when he started his own company – ROI Consulting/Construction LLC, an organization that primarily operated in commercial buildings and single-family housing construction.
Bob was an expert in skilled crafts and he knew the meaning of “serving his clients”. Bob was particularly interested in math and science. In 1977, Bob was a member of a two-man professional motorcycle racing team that won four U.S. class titles in the Western Eastern Road Racing Association. This allowed Bob and his team member to manage their own Suzuki Motorcycle dealership in 1978. Bob continued racing motorcycles and finished ninth in the world final championship in Texas. In addition to motorcycles, Bob was also interested in restoring vehicles and drag racing.
Bob is described by family and friends as being generous, patient, persistent and self-motivated.
Bob was a member of the NRA, Wounded Warriors, InterNATCHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors), Indiana Code Council and Padi Certified (Professional Association of Diving Instructors). Bob was also very supportive of law enforcement. He was a life-time member of the National Sheriff’s Association.
Although, per his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service, those wishing to honor Bob’s life, may do so by sending a contribution to Wounded Warriors, Hathaway-Myers Chapel, 1022 Pearl Street, Columbus, IN 47201-6845. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hathaway-myers.com.
