Roy Gene VanWye
June 22, 1933 – November 10, 2013

Roy Gene VanWye, 80 of Columbus, IN. died at 7:50 pm Sunday, November 10, 2013 at his home.
Mr. VanWye was born June 22, 1933 in Columbus, IN. the son of the late L. Roy and Thelma F. Snyder VanWye.
He married Nancy E. Bell August 22, 1959 in Columbus, IN. and she survives.
Surviving with his wife of 54 years are two sisters, Dorothy McKain of Columbus, IN. and Doris McKenney of Clearwater, FL.
Mr. VanWye was a United States Army Veteran.
He was a retired school teacher and had taught school in Ogilville and Edinburgh.
Mr. VanWye received his bachelor’s degree from Franklin College and his master’s degree from Indiana University. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
He was a member of First Christian Church, the Indiana State Teachers Association and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Mr. VanWye enjoyed photography, building things and he was a history buff.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. VanWye will be conducted at 3:00 pm Friday, November 15, 2013 at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St. with Tyler Tolbert officiating.
Calling hours will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm on Friday.
Burial will be in the City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
