Bogdan Paul 'Bogie' Macniak Thornton, IL Bogdan Paul Macniak age 81, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie Faye Macniak; children, Peggy (Tom) Sommer and Paul Macniak; grandson, Dyllon Detmar and sisters, Christine Donnelly and Martha (Lonnie) Johnson. Preceded in death by brother, Joseph Macniak. Bogdan was born September 1, 1937 in Poznan Poland to the late Chester and Mary Macniak. On June 8, 1974, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Faye Mang in Hammond, IN and together they raised two children. He retired from Material Service in Thornton, IL with 43 years of service and was a member of the International Society of Explosives Engineers. Bogdan was a 50-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 828. He was an usher at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Harvey, IL and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ. He also was a member of the Holy Name Society in Harvey, IL. He and Bonnie enjoyed being 'snowbirds' in Mesa, AZ where they belonged to the Polka Club of America and the Arizona Polka Club. He was an avid animal lover cherishing his two canine companions, Tracker and Charlie Brown who preceded him in death. Bogdan was a loving and devoted son, brother, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN.
