When I think of Aunt Myrl, the word Firecracker comes to mind. She embodied strength and love and vibrancy. I cherish the time I spent with her and will keep her in my heart forever. I wish all of her family peace and love and will be there virtually to celebrate her wonderful life.

My thoughts are with you today as you bid your loved one "good-bye." It was such a pleasure to be neighbors of Robert and Myrl. She was both lovely and loving, most notably to my family in welcoming Thomas into her home where he and Michael had many hours of play time together. May your good memories and your faith in God bring great comfort to you this day and onward. She has left you a beautiful legacy.

Kathy and I are sadden to learn of Myrl's passing, and our prayers go out to Bob, and the entire family.
We have been blessed to be a part of Bob and Myrl's church family at Culpeper United Methodist. They modeled what a marriage and a life of service to others should be. I'm sure many others share the same admiration and affection that Kathy and I have for this special couple.
I can not think of Bob without Myrl by his side. We pray that he will find consolation and comfort from all the love this community has for him and his wife.

I first met Myrl on the way out of the church I had just married one of her nieces in. On the way to the door, I heard someone call my name, turned to look and was met by puckered lips...Myrl’s. First-time meeting, mind you, but there were no strangers to Myrl.

That is wasn’t the last of the kisses. Every time we met thereafter those lips were there to tell me I was a welcome addition to the family.

God receive you warmly, Myrl. And Rob and the rest of the Barfield family, I’m praying hard for the healing of your hearts.

Love you,

As Myrl's nephew, I have such wonderful memories of times spent with the Barfield family. Our family was close and we enjoyed many meals, Christmas's, and vacations together. My cousins were my siblings. We grew up together and those memories are treasures to me. And Myrl was always there, like a second Mom, always a joy. She deserves her rest now.

With love from her Alaska family: Larry, Cheryl, Sandy, and Tammy

Myrl was truly the "salt of the earth" and will be sorely missed. She always displayed that wonderful smile and you knew it was genuine. Our association as members of CUMC afforded us the opportunity to often come together and helped form the basis for our longstanding friendship. Myrl had that special gift of a special personality which always made you feel better when we would meet. God gave us a special gift .
