Mrs. Thelda Ann Curtis Gayle (age 86) of Culpeper, Virginia died peacefully on October 13, 2017. She is survived by her brother, Charles Daniel Curtis, Sr. of Alexandria, Virginia; four grandchildren: Mark Conway Olesen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Tamara Cassandra Olesen Fodness of Old Ham, South Dakota; Christy Lynn Gayle Mullins of Clintwood, Virginia; and Robert Lee Gayle, Jr. of Clintwood, Virginia. Seven great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive Mrs. Gayle. Mrs. Gayle is predeceased by her husband Conway William “Dick” Gayle, her son Robert Lee Gayle, Sr. of Clintwood, Virginia and her daughter Savella Elsie Gayle Olesen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A native of Culpeper, Virginia, Mrs. Gayle lived out her retirement dream of building a beautiful home in the country after a 25-year career in electronic part management in Alexandria, Virginia. She loved her time in a peaceful place riding her tractors in the fields, gardening, crocheting beautiful blankets, sewing draperies and other home décor as well as creating beautiful crafts. She was particularly adept at telling great stories! Cremation is private as is the interment of Mrs. Gayle’s remains alongside her husband at The National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mrs. Gayle’s memory to The Dementia Society of America at www.dementiasociety.org.
