Obituary of Aleen Ballard
Aleen (Mann) Ballard left this world on Thursday, October 11, 2018. She was born on October 8, 1923, the daughter of Albert and Matilda Mann in Armstrong Township, Indiana. She was a graduate of Reitz High School and the Deaconess School of Nursing earning her RN degree. She was a public health nurse with the Evansville Visiting Nurses Association. Her passions included gardening, bird watching, cooking, sewing and spending time with her entire family. She was the beloved wife for 45 years of the late Charles Ballard; loving mother of Rebecca Ballard and Robert (Linda) Ballard; dear grandmother of Erica Ballard and Jacquelyn Ballard; dear sister of the late Arvin (Yvonne) Mann, Martha (Henry) Sander, Ruth (Norman) Volle, Alice (Shelby) Lynn and the late Richard (Emma) Mann; dear sister in law of the late William (Marie) Ballard; dear aunt and friend to many. Mrs. Ballard grew up in Salem Church in Darmstadt, Indiana and was married there in 1949; she later was a member of Parkview U.C.C. (Peoria, IL) and St. Mark’s U.C.C. (Evansville, IN). In 1994, Aleen moved to Friendship Village in St. Louis, MO to be closer to family. She served many years volunteering in the community gardens. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville IN 47712, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN 47720. Friends may visit on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
