Obituary of Darol Lee Watson
Darol Lee Watson age 89 passed away on Monday, November 26 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1929 in Vanderburgh County to Marjodel Wegel Watson and Harold J Watson. He attended Burkhardt School and Graduated from Benjamin Bosse High school in 1947. In June 1951 he married Joan Marie White of Evansville Indiana. He served in the National Guard from 1949 to 1961 and after rising through the NCO ranks to Master Sergeant, he was appointed as an officer and obtained rank of First Lieutenant. He worked for Chrysler Corporation until 1959 then became a heating and air-conditioning service technician with AC Tilley, George Koch & Sons, Kuebler‘s and others until he retired in 1991. In 1982 he was a founding member of the Knight Township Volunteer Fire Department where he volunteered up through last call-out of service on January 1, 2011. Darol is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan Marie White Watson, sons Larry (Vera) Watson of Evansville, IN, David Watson of Boonville, IN, Randy (Barbara) Watson of Avon, IN and daughter Carla Minahan of Louisville, KY, grandsons Brian (Kristen) Watson, Jeff Watson of Evansville, Andy (Amy) Watson of Boonville, IN, Jason (Jen) Watson of Orlando, FL, Daniel (Bethany) Watson of Indianapolis, IN, Steven Watson of Indianapolis, IN and Patrick and Kevin Minahan of Louisville, KY and Matt Brown of Evansville, great grandchildren Kyle (Mariah), Kiersten, Juliette, Brendan, Carolyn and Killian Watson all of Evansville. Brothers Jerol (Bonnie) Watson of Boonville, IN, Dr. Layne (Judy) Watson of Blacksburg Virginia; Brother-in-Law, Warren L. White (Darlene), Evansville, IN Many wonderful nephews and nieces and Great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Carol Hartig Watson; grandson Matthew Minahan; and Sister-in-Law Joy Sloat. He was a member of Plumber & Steamfitters Local 136, Knight Township Volunteer Fire Department, Survive Alive, Reed Lodge #316, Scottish Rite, Hadi Temple, the Hadi Hospital Staff, and Boonville, IN American Legion Post #200. He enjoyed fishing and giving fishing lessons to family and friends, he was an avid gardener and most of all enjoyed time with his family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the CrossPointe Trinity Church, 6515 Old Boonville Highway, Evansville, IN 47715, (behind Darol’s home place), officiated by Pastor Duane Allison. Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN. where a Masonic Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. by the Reed Masonic Lodge #316.
