Obituary of Donald Fredrick Betz
Donald F. Betz, 85, of Evansville, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at St. Vincent’s hospital. He was born on February 19, 1935, to the late Vincent and Glayds (Cook) Betz. Don married the absolute love of his life, Beverly J. Crowe which preceded Don’s death on July 5, 2011. Bev had moved near Don when they were teenagers and he had certainly noticed her, so he finally got up the nerve to “accidently” throw the football in her yard so he had a reason to go talk to her. It was true love from that point on. Don and Bev were devout Christians and attended North Park Baptist Church for many, many years. Don and Bev married on December 21, 1956, right before he went into the US Army. Don was an excellent hard-working brick mason all of his life (for about 55 years). He was a true family man and loved his children and cherished his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don will always be remembered for having a genuine smile and a happy disposition. Don enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his family, walking, fishing, bird watching, car shows and a real passion for working on old cars. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; brothers, John, Vincent and Billy Betz; and sister, Cathy Mullen. Donald is survived by his children, Tony (Cindy) Betz, Julie Betz, Sondra (Joe) Kunkel and Laura (Steven) Myers; grandchildren, Michael Wagner, Renee (Jeff) Sallee, Brandon Wagner, Jason Flittner, Corie Betz, Alesha (Gerald) Wright and Blake Knapp; great-grandchildren, Kason, Krue, Navey, and Knox Sallee; sisters, Nancy Stricker and Barbara Lipscomb. Masks will be required and supplied, if needed. Friends may visit on Saturday, October 31, 2020, from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. at Alexander North Chapel and will be open to everyone, prior to a private service to follow, officiated by Pastor Art Christmas. The service will be live-streamed using the following link, www.funeralstreamusa.com. Military honors will be conducted at Alexander Memorial Park. Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderNorthChapel.com.
