Don will be missed by all in the metal detecting hobby. He was one of the best and won many Best Find awards at the Lincoln Heritage Metal Detecting club in Evansville. Don spent many hours in libraries and court houses finding where the old sites were and usually came up with old coins and artifacts. Don was one of the early members of the club and was liked by everyone. His knowledge about all the old historical sites was endless. If there are old coins and artifacts in heaven, I'm sure Don will find them.

Memories and Love to my BROTHER DONNIE!!

Arla (Reuter) Akin

June 24, 2018

My heart goes out to the family of Donnie. He was a part of my life, off and on, since I was about 13 or 14. His family went to our church (Salem Darmstadt), they lived on Schenk Road and then Donnie lived on Orchard Road, the road I grew up on. I remember his parents, Glenn and Bobby. Such a handsome family. Donnie taught me how to drive a stick shift (such patience). We went out a couple of times, just as friends. I know he really enjoyed metal detecting. I had been to his place once, back in the woods, with his grandchildren running around. Every time I passed the long drive to his place, I thought of him. He was a sweet guy. I know he had health problems, but he did the best he could. He was a good person. Donnie, may the angels welcome you to heaven and hold you in their arms.
