Edna Deusner Monroe

Edna Deusner Monroe, 97, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Linda E. White Hospice after a short illness. She was born in Black Township, Posey County Indiana on June 19, 1922 to Raleigh and Lula (Churchill) Ricketts. She was raised in rural Mt. Vernon and attended Blacks School.
Edna retired from EVSC as a Cafeteria Manager after several years and worked in the Signature Shop at DeJong’s. She liked to travel, especially to Texas to see her granddaughters and great-grandson. Edna was a member of the Mill Road Baptist Church, a past member of the Coterie of Evansville, and was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Deusner and James A. Monroe; son, John Lynn Deusner, and five brothers and three sisters.
Edna is survived by her son, Raymond Deusner and his wife, Carol of Mt. Vernon; daughter-in-law, Joy Deusner of Missouri City, TX; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, officiated by Pastor Troy DeKemper, with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
