I was so saddened to hear of Galens passing away this week. We are out of town so I just found the obituary on line. I was so blessed to have had Galen in my first homeroom as a young teacher at Central High School. Galen and I were only 4 years apart in age so being from the same generation we had so many great talks about things he enjoyed. Galen loved his Martin birds and houses, his parents, antiques and I remember him talking about his barber . Galen was a model student and always a role model to other kids in my classroom. Mr. & Mrs Gehrichs, I will always remember your kindness to me in your home and school and your unrelenting love, devotion and care for Galen. He is no doubt in the hands and prescence of God and although we miss him we will be reunited someday. So very sorry for your loss, Dennis Haire

We( Jim, Barb Reimann family- Tammy, Jane, Karen and family) have been friends and neighbors with Galen for as long as I can remember( Galen and I just a month apart in age). We have all been blessed by his presence in the town of Darmstadt and the many Salem church services, activities and events. Our prayers and sympathy go out to Ted and Lillian and family. Galen will be greatly missed. Luke and I will miss his many visits to our farm stand and home to say "Hi". We loved to see him smile when we teased him about coming by just in time to help pull weeds and pick tomatoes. He was always a joy to be around. We love you sweet Galen, may you rest in peace. God bless you Ted and Lillian.

Dear Aunt Mae & Uncle Ted,
We were so sorry to hear our sweet cousin Galen passed away. It was always a joy to visit your family in Evansville, IN (& our other relatives too) and we loved that Galen would make sure you would give us a tour through Darmstadt to see any changes over the years from when our parents used to live there. We just wish we could have traveled there more often over the years, but we are grateful and will cherish the moments from when we did. It was always endearing to hear Galen's voice in the background of our telephone conversations "When are you coming up to see us? How's our family doing?". He loved everyone and he will be missed! You've been AMAZING parents and we know this transition for you will be difficult. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I have known Galen since we were children growing up together in Darmstadt. Although I moved away from Darmstadt after college, Galen always said a happy and enthusiastic, “Hi Jane !” whenever I occasionally saw him over the many years, since Ted was a good friend to my dad for decades. Sending hugs and prayers over the miles to Ted and Lillian and relatives.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Jane (Reimann) Childs
