Joanna M. Peithman, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Newman, Illinois on May 2, 1932.
She attended the University of Illinois, graduating in piano performance and Music Education. There she met her husband Harlan W. Peithman and they married August 16, 1953. They moved to Michigan, where Harlan worked at Ford Motor Company. Joanna taught private piano lessons for 25 years. She worshipped at Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, played hand bells and accompanied many church musicals. She worked as a choral accompanist for 5 years at Bishop Borgess High School and was the accompanist for the Ford Motor Company Chorus. She retired with Harlan to Bloomington, IN in 1993, where she remained an active member of SAI. She managed the student musical instrument program, which provided instruments for metro Bloomington public schools.
Joanna is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; daughters, Janet (James) and Lynn; grandsons, Noah, Matthew and Michael, and great-granddaughter Serenity.
