Obituary of John Joseph LaForrest, Jr.
John Joseph LaForrest, Jr., 71, of Evansville, IN passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020. He was born on January 20, 1949, in Berre, Vermont to the late John Joseph LaForrest, Sr. and Betty May Colombe. John enjoyed golfing and watching Ghost Hunter and Duck Dynasty. He was a Marine and served from 1965-1969 (during the Vietnam War). John was a self-taught Supervisor and enjoyed his coffee. He loved all of his grandchildren and spending time at get-togethers. John worked at Lensing Wholesale when he was younger. He was a volunteer firefighter for German Township. He enjoyed listening to his police scanner and watching his surveillance cameras. John had worked at Lewis Baker for many years and retired from the Evansville Courier and Press after 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard LaForrest and Charles LaForrest; and stepdad, Richard Colombe. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy A. LaForrest; children, Shannon La Forrest, John LaForrest III, Michelle LaForrest, and Elizabeth LaForrest; siblings, Linda, Bobby, Eddy, Barbara, Tony, Penny, Alice, Jeanette, Jeff, Brian, Billy, Gladys and Steve; step-siblings, Marsha, Carla, Ricky; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ted Totsch. Friends may visit Tuesday from noon until service time the funeral home.
