Obituary of June Nance
June Nance, 89, of Evansville, IN continued on to her eternal home on November 11, 2019. Born on June 10, 1930 to the late Stanley and Addie (Perkins) Schenk, she graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and retired from Whirlpool Corporation. She was also a member of Forest Hills Wesleyan Church. June’s greatest joy in life was her granddaughters. She enjoyed picking them up from school and spending afternoons with them eating snacks, taking them to practices, attending their sports and school events, and whatever else they wanted to do, even jumping on the trampoline when she was in her 70’s. In one granddaughter she instilled her love for Hallmark movies and the other, her love for all things peanut butter. When she moved to Evansville Protestant Home, they were able to do the same for her, spending many hours playing dominoes and bingo, eating ice cream (usually peanut butter sundaes), and participating in whatever was on the activities calendar. She especially enjoyed the SWIRCA senior games. Even after her cancer diagnosis in 2016 and some difficult days, her positive attitude remained. She continued trusting in God, praying for family and friends, and living her best life with a smile on her face. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Harp (Mike); granddaughters, Britlee and Bailee Harp; sisters, Elsie Schenk and Laura Jones; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Diane McConnell. June was preceded in death by her husband, Lee “Buster” Nance; sisters, Vivian Bogan, Eva Smith, Essie Couch, Ruby Pauley, Ruth Watson; and her brother, Stanley Schenk. Thank you to everyone at Evansville Protestant Home for the loving care and numerous hours of fun-filled activities over the past 8 years. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Rev. Ray Austin with Entombment to follow at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Evansville Protestant Home Activities Department. Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderWestChapel.com.
