Obituary of Larry E. "Butch" Cavins
Larry Edward “Butch” Cavins, 77, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 23, 1943, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Howard Walter and Virginia (Wilder) Cavins. Larry graduated from North High School where he participated in the band, orchestra, and theatre productions. He was a graduate of the University of Evansville. He served in the United States Army (’62-’65) as a Russian voice interceptor in Ankara, Turkey. He retired from Alcan Aluminum after more than 30 years of service. He was a devoted student of the word of God and the Christian Faith, and was involved in the Cursillo movement. He enjoyed playing golf and watching college basketball. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He is proceeded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sylva (Crofts) Cavins, his daughter, Carrington Cavins, and brother Raymond Cavins (Margaret). Larry is survived by his son, Kevin Cavins (Linda); daughter, Shauna Cavins; brothers, Rev. Donald Cavins (Patricia) and Ronald Cavins (Diana); sister, Delores Cavins Bristow; sister-in-laws, Ronni Crofts and Kathy Crofts; and by many more cherished family members and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Donald Cavins, with burial in New Salem - Campground Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. The funeral service will be livestreamed beginning 1:45p.m. at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA. Special thanks to Dr. Donald Brake for his continued care over the years, and MSA hospice for their care over the past month. Memorial contributions may be made to MSA Hospice.
