Leo J. Seiler

Leo J. Seiler, 96, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on August 29, 1922, in Evansville, IN to the late John and Elizabeth (Arndt) Seiler. Leo was a WWII Navy Veteran and served on the USS Minneapolis. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He loved his cats, Buddy and Shadow. Leo loved to bowl, play golf and was an avid Notre Dame Football and NFL fan. He enjoyed decorating his house at Christmas with lights and decorations. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Seiler; three brothers, Larry, Gilbert and Leroy; and a sister, Elizabeth. Leo is survived by his son, Gary Seiler and wife, Brenda. The family would like to thank the 2nd floor ICU and 6th floor East Staff of St. Vincent Hospital for their wonderful care. David Ballew for his friendship and taking care of Shadow the cat, checking on the house and always being there. A very special “thank you” to Marie and Kenny Eaton for taking such wonderful care of Leo prior to his hospitalization and then during it, Palliative Care Director Tara Knapp for her guidance, and Dr. Stacie Wenk, DO, RPh, FACP who went above and beyond to help the family through this difficult time. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Alex Zenthoefer, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Alexander East Chapel and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
