Obituary of Lilly Fowler VanWinkle
Lilly Fowler VanWinkle, 99, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019. She was born on April 24, 1920 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Elzie & Nora (Cook) Bledsoe. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church for over 60 years. Lilly enjoyed bowling, traveling, fishing, and was an enthusiastic basketball fan, of the Evansville Aces and U.K. Wildcats. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Lilly loved life, God, her family and friends and her little dog, Haley. Lilly was preceded in death by her late husband of 33 years, Willard Fowler; her husband of 22 years, Earl VanWinkle; son, Larry Higdon; sister, Martha Thrasher; and brother, David Bledsoe. She is survived by her son, Steve Fowler (Susan) of Newburgh, IN; and grandchildren, Stacy Fowler of Henderson, KY and Lesly Fowler of Newburgh, IN; lots of nieces and nephews; stepson, Rip VanWinkle (Peggy) and family; and Sandra Snyder (Darryl) and family. The family would like to thank Walnut Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel officiated by Dr. Tim Hobbs with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit on Thursday from 11am – 1pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Humane Society or the animal shelter of your choice.
