Walter W. McFarland

Walter William McFarland, 63, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Mt. Vernon Nursing Home. He was born January 26, 1950 in Evansville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laverne (Penn) McFarland and brothers, John, Clarence and George McFarland. Walter is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kim (Johnston) McFarland; children, Jamie McFarland, Dan (Jenni) McFarland of Virginia Beach, VA, Krista (Matt) Groves of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Serenity McFarland, Kacey, Katie Groves, Kassidy (Christopher) Cullen; sisters, Betty (Jack) Rainey, Linda Thomas, Cathy Haley, Carolyn Bruce and his step-mother, Eva Massey-Baugh; step brothers and sisters, Rex (Sandy) Massey, Brian (Renee) Massey, Scott Massey, Tanya Bitter, Trina (Rick) Burton, Trudy (Calvin) Stewart; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and one special nephew, Billy. Walter grew up in the river bottoms and lived there until 1998. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1968. Walter was a Navy veteran and served in Viet Nam as a SeeBee. He was a member of VFW Post 1114 and DAV. Walter worked for many years at Plaza Yacht Club and retired from Evansville Brewing. Walter loved spending time with his grandkids and his dogs. He enjoyed going to breakfast with friend and caregiver, Tim Krutcher, and having large family BBQ’s at his place on Old Henderson Rd. His family would like to thank the staff at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehab, VA Evansville and Vista Care for their care and support. Services will be 5:00PM, Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor David Weist. Friends may visit, Thursday, from 2:00PM until service time at the funeral home.
