Wilma Caldemeyer Shappell

Wilma Caldemeyer Shappell, 79, of Evansville, IN passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and dogs on Monday, August 15, 2022. She was born in Owensboro, KY on June 13, 1943 to the late Edward and Sylvia Rhoades. She worked several years as a nurse’s aide at Deaconess Hospital and various nursing facilities. She enjoyed flea markets, collecting dolls and antiques. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Carl Caldemeyer Sr.; son, Carl Caldemeyer Jr. She is survived by her husband, Ted Shappell; daughter, Sara Crane (Russell); son, James Ray Caldemeyer; daughter, Kula Wathen (Mike); son, Joshua Shappell; nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Deaconess Hospice for their care and kindness. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Stan Temme with burial to follow in Locust Hill Cemetery.
