Genette Martin Moore

Genette Martin Moore passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Fairfax Nursing Center. She was born in Porterdale, Georgia, on February 10, 1927 to Lester Lee Martin and Ruth Wilson Martin. She married her high school sweetheart, Obie R. Moore, Jr., in 1945 and they remained married until his death in 2012. They moved to Virginia in 1957. She spent her working career of 37 years at Southern Bell in Atlanta, and later at Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. Genette and Obie enjoyed many years of square dancing, ballroom dancing, singing in the church choir, and traveling with friends. They particularly enjoyed their trips to England, Ireland, Spain, Germany and Greece. She is survived by her two children, Obie R. Moore, III (Royceanne) and Pamela Moore Harris (Scott); two grandchildren, Matthew and Chad; and three great grandchildren, Kelsey, Emma, and Morgan. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Dulin United Methodist Church, Falls Church, Virginia. Services will be private.
