Gloria M. Stenson

Gloria Maxine Stenson (nee Thompson), 90, of Centreville, VA., formerly of Fort Meyers, FL and North Huntington, PA. died November 11, 2018 at the Arbor Terrace Sudley Manor Assisted Living Facility in Manassas, VA. Born October 11, 1928 in McKeesport, PA to Fred L. and Violet B Thompson. Gloria graduated from McKeesport High School in 1946 and later worked in the headquarters offices of the G.C. Murphy Company in McKeesport. On April 18, 1949 she married James Arthur Stenson in Winchester, VA. She became a stay at home mother with the birth of their son James, Jr. in 1952. During her life she was active in the Forward Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and many civic and church groups and associations. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Sr. and one sister, Caroline. Survivors include her loving son, James A. Stenson, Jr. and his wife Susan, of Centreville, VA; one brother, Paul F. Thompson and his wife Janet of North Huntingdon, PA as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, Fairfax, VA with private interment at Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Highway, Manassas, VA. Pastor Will Montgomery of Centreville United Methodist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to Capital Caring, 2900 Telestar Ct. Falls Church, VA 22042.
