Alvin L. Madison, 86 of Falls Church, VA passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in Falls Church. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 30, 1934, son of John Madison & Irene Bolden. Al served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received an honorable discharge in 1960. He received his MBA in finance and auditing in 1964 from Temple University while raising his five children. He worked in Army audit as a program director in Philadelphia, PA and relocated to Northern VA in 1976 with a promotion to work with the Inspector General, Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1995 with the title of Deputy Director of Acquisitions Management with 30+ years of government service. Al was an avid bowler & softball player with his fellow employees, with the teams "No Problem" (Bowling) and the "Junkyard Dogs" (softball). After his retirement in 1995, he joined the Northern Virginia Seniors Softball league and played until 2010. Al is preceded in death by his son, Marc Alvin Madison of Fairfax, VA. Al is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Geri Madison. He is also survived by his children, Johanna Petra Dougherty (John), of Williamstown, NJ, Patricia I. Madison, of White Plains, NY, Michele U. Madison (Elly Appel) of Charlottesville, VA, and Christina M. Madison (John Abbruzzesi) of Chadds Ford, PA. His grandchildren, Jacylyn Dougherty, of Austin, TX, Peter Dougherty (Eva), Of Medford Lakes, NJ, Janet Dougherty of McAllen, TX, Jamie Dougherty of Rochester, NY, Courtney Mooney of Chadds Ford, PA, and Claire E. Madison, of Fairfax, VA. Al's great-grandchild, Dean William Dougherty of Medford Lakes, NJ. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 6th from 11AM-12PM at Murphy Funeral Home. A second Memorial Service will be held in Pennsylvania at Kings Mill, 6000 Pennell Road, Media, PA 19063 on Sunday, November 15 from 11AM-12PM.
