He served in the United States Army where he joined the OSS (Office of Strategic Services), and went on to serve in the CIA until he retired in 1980. He was married to his first wife for 48 years, from 1943 to 1991 and had known her five years before totaling 53 years together. The late Anna Traina died in 1991. In 1994, God Blessed him with his best friend and soulmate, Mona-Lisa who Charles later married to joyfully spend the rest of his life with. He loved everything about New York and was an avid sports fan, enjoyed watching golf and football and an avid fan of the New York Yankees. He had the fortune of watching Babe Ruth play ball. He loved all kinds of classic music from Frank Sinatra to Tony Bennett. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. Charlie also had a special group “The Godfather Cadre” this is a group of very close fine gentlemen who revered him. They are: Greg, Paul, Chris, Francis, Brian, Jim, and Joey. They always took him out on every birthday. Charlie really enjoyed being with his “guys” and they respectfully called him “the Godfather”. Charles Joseph Traina lived his life “his way”. Every word of Frank Sinatra’s songs “I Did It My Way” and “New York, New York” is exactly how he was. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He served his country and ran and completed his race. When he entered heaven, Jesus said to him, “Well done, my good and faithful servant, Charles Joseph Traina.” Visitation will be held at Murphy Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 5-9PM, 1102 West Broad Street, (Rt. 7) in Falls Church, VA.
