John Louis Chewey

John L. Chewey, 87, of Falls Church, VA passed away on March 12, 2019. He was born in Edwardsville, PA.
John graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1950. In October 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War serving from 1952-54. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal. In 1954, John moved to the Washington, DC area and became a courier for the Central Intelligence Agency. During his 34 years of service, his duties included delivering documents to the White House and United States Capitol. After retiring from the CIA, he continued to work as a courier with Government contractors MRJ and General Dynamics, finally retiring in 2007 to spend time with family.
He is survived by his three children; Debra A. Morgan and her spouse, David R. Morgan of Falls Church, VA; John M. Chewey of Falls Church; and Robert J. Chewey and his spouse, Chris of Joppa, MD. Survivors also include his two grandchildren, Sarah Morgan and Samantha Morgan; and his former wife, Jane V. Clarke along with his two beloved cats.
Friends will be received on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street in Falls Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Philip Catholic Church, 7500 St. Phillips Court in Falls Church. He will be interred at a later date in the Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd. (Route 619) in Triangle, VA 22172.
