September 1, 1959August 31, 2018
Judith Kaplan Sakowitz of Chantilly, Virginia, 59, died on August 31, 2018 after a long struggle with cancer. Judy felt that she had been very lucky in life. She had a loving birth family, felt her immediate family was her single biggest accomplishment, was surrounded by good and loving friends, had a fabulous 30+ year career at SRA International, and knew she loved and was loved by her husband, Michael, every single day of her married life. In addition to being survived by Michael, Judy is also survived by her beloved daughters, Julia and Emily, her sister (Eva Kaplan), and her brother and his wife (Steve and Albert Kaplan). She is also survived by her extended family (sisters- and brothers-in law, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews) as well as close friends. It was a full and loving life. Services will take place graveside at the King David Memorial Garden on 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042 on Monday, September 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Mourners are invited to attend the service as well as shiva minyan at the Sakowitz home. Shiva Minyans will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made to either the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), or the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund at Congregation Beth Emeth (CBE). Judy and her family would like to thank everyone who has shared their medical knowledge, warmth, empathy, humor, and prayers over this long struggle and continues to support the family through this difficult time.
