Obituary of Wanda B Hays
Wanda May Brightbill Hays, 92, died peacefully at her home on Monday, February 5, 2018. Wife of the late William E. Hays, Sr., Wanda was born on May 14, 1925, in Easton, PA, the fourth daughter of five to Harvey and Reba Brightbill of Easton. Wanda was a resident of Annandale, VA, from 1964 until 1998, when she moved to Centreville, VA. Wanda was a graduate of Wilson High School, Easton, PA, and received her accounting degree from the Harrisburg Business College. She proudly served as a member of the US Navy WAVES during WWII. She retired from the Federal Government, Department of Commerce, National Technical Information Services, in 1984 and continued her career with the Fairfax County Park Authority, Audrey Moore Recreation Center, until she finally retired in 2006, at age 80. Wanda was the devoted, loving mother to Leslie Nell Youngquist, William E. Hays, Jr. (both of Centreville, VA) and Carlotta Hays Collins (Thomas) of Fairfax, VA. She was the grandmother of Kris Youngquist of Reno, NV, Karl Youngquist (Julie) of San Diego, CA, Gina Collins of Reston, VA, Jill Collins (Dr. David Rodeberg) of Greenville, NC, and Holly Collins of Norfolk, VA. Great grandchildren are Jacqueline, Jared and Logan Youngquist, Annika Youngquist, and two great, great granchildren. Wanda is pre-deceased by her husband, William E. Hays, Sr., sisters, Missouri Koechig, Virginia Miller, Myrtle Lamas and Elaine Coyle, all of Pennsylvania. Wanda was loved by all, and will be remembered for her sense of humor, quick wit, contagious smile, and her warm and loving spirit, forever.
