Dorothy E. Alvather

Dorothy E. Alvather, 81, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospice Home. She was born December 6, 1929 in Aboite, IN. She retired in 1992 after 20 years with Timbercrest Truck Stop and 11 years with Bell Cafe, Huntington. She was a member of Trier Ridge Community Church of God. She had a passion for cooking and baking. She is survived by her children, David (Cindy) Smith, of Nashville, TN, Mike (Leota) Smith, of Waynedale, Rebecca (Robert) Tapp, of Fort Wayne, Marla Alvather, of Indianapolis and Dennis Alvather, of Fort Wayne; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; brother, Donald J. Harter of Johnston, RI and sister-in-law, Bernadene Harter of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie H. and Amanda J. Harter and brother, Rogers E. Harter. Funeral Service is 2:00 pm Monday, June 13, 2011 at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton, Winchester Rd Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd. with calling two hours prior. Rev. Ben Keckler officiating.
