Eugene H Hamric

Eugene H Hamric, age 91, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Eugene was born August 7, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late Otto and Minerva Hamric. Gene served in the US Navy until May 1950 when he was honorably discharged. He then married Betty in September of 1950 and together they shared five children. He retired from Walgreens Drug Store with over 50 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 47. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, win or lose. In his spare time he enjoyed going to the casinos, watching westerns on tv and doing scratch off tickets. Surviving are his sons, Eugene (Karen) Hamric II, James C. (Karen) Hamric, David R. (Mary) Hamric; daughter, Darlene (Steven) Blanchard; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren, 10 great-step-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty D. Hamric, and son, John R. Hamric. Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Ft. Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 2 pm on Wednesday July 28, 2021 at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Akron, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Allen County SPCA or Heartland Hospice.
