George Gammons, 96, of Fort Wayne passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021. He was born on September 2, 1924 in Fort Wayne, a son of the late George W. and Hattie (Ball) Gammons. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Thornhill Oil Company and then maintenance at the Southeast YMCA and Parkview Hospital. He was a member at Gospel Temple, Calvary Temple, and later, First Assembly of God. Surviving family include his children, Connie (Frank) Tadeo, Diana Lynn Purvis, Carl (Lorraine) and Everett (Heather Fox) Gammons; grandsons, Roger and Rick Thompson and Brandon Gammons, and numerous great and great great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Audrey Gammons; seven children; one grandson; and brother, Walter Gammons. Military funeral rites will be 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
