Obituary of Hellen Moraa Mariera
Hellen Moraa (Mariera) Anunda, 60, passed away, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Kisii, Kenya, the youngest daughter of seven children, to the late Pastor Sospeter and Bathsheba Mong'ina (Getii) Mariera. She married James Anunda in December of 1996 and he survives. Hellen was a 1992 graduate of Michigan State University, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in English Education. She worked at Coventry Meadows Nursing Home for 15 years as a Physical Therapist Assistant. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2012, she continued to work until her retirement in 2018. She was a proud cancer survivor. Hellen was an active member of Fort Wayne Seventh Day Adventist Church for 30 years and was an Adventist her entire life. She enjoyed music, cooking, reading, working in her garden and traveling. Above all else, she was very strong in her faith, a devoted wife, and loving mother and grandmother. Hellen was very close with her nieces, Janet and Sheila, considering them as daughters. Surviving are her loving husband, James Anunda; children, Cliff (Danielle Mabra-Mostella) Gisemba, Kathrine(Oliver Sailey Jr.) Bagakas-Sailey, Eddie Gisemba, and James Christopher Anunda; grandchildren, Nowai, Ella, Adam, Moraa, Henry, Fabrice, Mimita, Michael and Mason; one brother; three sisters; nieces, Lilian Anunda, Nancy, and Janet; nephews, Paul Anunda and Peter Jr.; brothers-in-law, Peter (Sophia) Anunda, David Anunda, Nyamao Anunda, and Tom Anunda; and sisters-in-law, Josephine Anunda and Jemima Anunda; Hellen was preceded in death by two brothers; father-in-law, Sospeter Anunda; and mother-in-law, Rael Anunda. Funeral service 10am, Friday, November 27, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home. Visitation Thursday, November 26, 2020 from 10am to 1pm and 6pm to 8pm. Burial in Concordia Gardens.
