Obituary of Joyce Lee Hinen
Joyce Lee Hinen, 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at her home in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne on July 29, 1935, to Merrill and Mary (Amons) Anspaugh, she attended Concordia High School and went on to work at Covington Manor Nursing Home as the Housekeeping Supervisor. She retired in 2000 so she could begin spending her winters in Florida. Joyce was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She never knew a stranger and would do anything to help someone in need. Joyce loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She looked forward to putting a garden in every year, especially tomatoes for salsa, and zucchini so she could make her favorite zucchini pie. Some of her hobbies included garage sailing, bonfires, fishing, swimming, and shopping. She was a big IU and Colts fan. Joyce loved to feed and watch the hummingbirds outside her kitchen window. She also had a love for animals, especially her dogs. Joyce is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo (Jim) Horne, Jackie L. (Steve) Hill; one son, Russell (Stephanie) Smith; eight grandchildren, Charlie, Christina, Andrew, Brandon, Courtney, Cameron, Braden and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Tommy and Quentin. She was preceded in death by her father, Merrill Anspaugh; Mother, Mary Anspaugh; husband, Roy Hinen; sisters, Mary Lou Miller, and Barbara Feichter; brothers, Earl Anspaugh, Kenneth Anspaugh, and Lyle Bowling. A funeral service to honor Joyce's life and legacy will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, December 2, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. A visitation will also take place on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at IOOF Cemetery, New Haven, Indiana.
