Kenneth Wayne Atteberry

Kenneth Wayne Atteberry, 67, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on December 9, 2018. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on December 14, 1950, the son of the late William Atteberry and Phyllis Reeves. Ken served in the US Army from 1970 to 1972 having been given a national defense service medal as well as sharpshooter. He worked as a lineman for Verizon/GTE until his retirement in 2008. Ken was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed watching the Colts and IU basketball. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Margaret Atteberry; children, Mark (Shanna) Atteberry, Daniel Atteberry, Kelly (Douglas) Knutson; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren; and 7 siblings. He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Andrew Atteberry; siblings, Jim Atteberry and Sandy Atteberry; and step-mother, Irene Atteberry. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 1 pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Visitation will be held form 11 am to 1 pm. Burial will take place in Highland Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association, or to the family for funeral expenses.
