Martha E. Zeigler Wappes

Martha E. (Ziegler) Wappes, 92, of Powell, Ohio, formerly of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, July 4, 2013, in Hilliard, Ohio. Born in Columbia City, she was a homemaker and also a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of St. Joe United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Beverly A. Hurst of Powell, Ohio; and two sons, James E. (Rebecca) Wappes of San Antonio, Texas and Edward D. "Dale" Wappes of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Crabill and Barbara Nicodemus, both of Columbia City and Joy Follis of Fort Wayne; and one brother, Allen Zeigler of Churubusco. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Lillie (Prough) Zeigler; husband, Walter R. Wappes, in 1959; sisters, May B. Wappes and Geraldine Growcock; and brothers, Clarence, Jay, Ben, Lee, Don, Marshall, John and Ralph Zeigler. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, In 46835 with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Huntertown.
