Ned Wickliffe Brenizer

Ned Wickliffe Brenizer, 88, of Fort Wayne passed away 1/18/2019. Ned was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne. He attended Central High School where he was a member of the 1946 State Champion Runner-Up basketball team, the 1948 Basketball City Champions, and the All-City Basketball Team. He was a Central Blanket award winner and a member of the National Honor Society. He continued his education at Drake University on an academic and athletic scholarship. He was on the first Fort Wayne Little League Board of Directors and he remained active as a youth baseball and basketball coach for many years. He also served as president and member of the board of the Northeast Indiana Athletic Officials Association and had a 15-year career as a high school and college football and basketball official. During his professional career with ITT and Tokheim, Ned played a leadership role in the development of computer-based manufacturing information systems. He was a member of the Association for Systems Management and was rewarded for his accomplishments when he received ASM’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award in 1983. Ned was proud of his advisory role with Junior Achievement and his 50-year membership with First Presbyterian Church. Ned is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Adeline Perez Brenizer, children Scott Brenizer of Tuscaloosa, AL, Beth (Doug) Jackson of Angola, Christine Sylvia Watkins of Cincinnati, Michael (Ali) Sylvia of Indianapolis, and James (Erika) Sylvia of Westfield, IN; and nephews Bruce Brenizer and Todd Brenizer. He was a devoted and caring grandfather to ten grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Leo and Hazel Brenizer and brother, Robert Brenizer. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 25, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne, IN 46802 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Alzheimer’s Association, or Visiting Nurse Hospice.
