Obituary of Thelma B. Douglas
Thelma Beatrice Douglas, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Heritage Park. Born August 11, 1926, in Lyndhurst, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Hans and Signa (Johnson) Hansen. A graduate of Lyndhurst High School, Thelma enjoyed being a Pastor’s wife and helping as secretary, choir director, and youth group coordinator over the years. A devout Christian, she helped build and was a member of First Assembly of God, Fort Wayne. In her 70’s, she and her husband traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, and helped the community there build a church. She enjoyed swimming, skiing, and river rafting in Colorado. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Pastor William Douglas of Fort Wayne; daughters, Donna (Robert) Harris of Fort Wayne and Esther (David) Murray of Morgantown, West Va.; sons, David (Kay) Douglas of Boulder, Colo., and Steven (Kathy) Douglas of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Trabona of Florida and Elsa Ann (Jay) Myers of Pennsylvania; and brother, David (Mary) Hansen of New Jersey. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard Douglas; sister, Aida Anderson; and brother-in-law, John Trabona. Funeral Service will be 9:30 am on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at First Assembly of God, 1400 W. Washington Center Blvd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be from 5-8pm on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
