RUSSELL FELIX RENAUD, 64, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away Monday, November 5th, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Wyandotte, MI, on May 23rd, 1954, he was the son of the late Felix Russell Renaud and Verena Annabelle Marx.
Russell served in the D.C. 201st Airlift Squadron Air National Guard out of Andrews Airforce Base for nearly 30 years. After his retirement from the Guard, he continued working as a draftsman at Metropole Products. He was a fisherman, builder, tinkerer, artist, and poet. Russell was passionate about researching every topic that popped into his head, often recording his own thoughts in various writings and notes. Under his wife’s leadership, he taught middle school students computer science throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
Russell was preceded in death by his brothers Dave Renaud (Loretta), Jim Renaud (Sue), and his sister Marianne Renaud. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Geiser); daughter, Michelle (Sagan); son, Joe; grandchildren, Camden and Hanna (Sagan); brother, Jack Renaud (Carey Marie); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service (1621 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401) will host a memorial service at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 11th. Russell was a mentor to Fredericksburg Academy’s FIRST Robotics team and has always been a supporter of U.S. veterans.
