Norma Irene Knauer

Norma Irene Knauer, 89, of Rockville passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019, at her residence.

Norma was born in Lonaconing Maryland on April 4, 1930, the daughter of Peter A. and Agnes Isabelle (Keplinger) Smith.

Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and was a past state President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Norma worked for 21 years at American Health Network as a Billing Clerk.

Survivors include her son Chris Knauer, (wife-Daniela), Cooper City; Florida; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 30 years, Felix Knauer; three sons, James, Charles, and Joseph Knauer; and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019, at Bittles and Hurt Funeral. Burial will follow in Brick Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday.

We feel truly grateful to have had the short time spent together with Aunt Norma in Florida. She was truly a wonderful and caring person with whom lunches and dinners were spent reminiscing of times past. She will be missed.

My sympathy and prayers to Norma's family and friends. I had been a friend to her and Felix for many years in the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary. We have kept in touch through Christmas cards for few years. I was State President in 1990-91 and I cherish Memories we have made for many years. Sorry I can't attend the service, know youall are in my thoughts & prayers.
